Voyah Taishan X8: New SUV Integrates Huawei HarmonyOS, 800V Charging

Voyah, a Dongfeng-backed electric vehicle brand, has unveiled its latest SUV, the Taishan X8. The vehicle is positioned as a mid-size to large offering, bridging the gap between the flagship Taishan model and Voyah’s existing lineup.

Key Features and Specifications

The Taishan X8 will be available in both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations. The PHEV variant boasts an impressive 310 km (193 miles) of pure electric range, while the EV model can be equipped with a 120 kWh battery, making it the largest electric SUV in Voyah’s current portfolio. Both versions will utilize an 800V high-voltage platform for faster charging speeds. The PHEV trim will feature a 65 kWh battery.

HarmonyOS Integration

A defining feature of the Taishan X8 is its deep integration with the latest version of Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit ecosystem. The vehicle will be the first to showcase a dual-screen infotainment setup: two 15.6-inch 2K displays, each capable of reaching 1000 nits of brightness. These screens can function independently or as a combined unit, offering drivers and passengers an immersive digital experience.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Taishan X8 measures 5200 mm long, 2025 mm wide, and 1814 mm high, placing it slightly below the larger Taishan in size but above other Voyah models. The vehicle’s launch is scheduled for the first half of 2026, and it will enter a highly competitive market segment in China. Its rivals include the BYD Bao 8, Zeekr 8X, and Huawei’s Aito M8. Pricing is expected to be lower than the flagship Taishan, which currently ranges from 379,900 to 509,900 yuan (approximately $55,200–$74,000 USD).

The Taishan X8’s debut underscores the growing trend of automotive manufacturers partnering with tech giants like Huawei to deliver advanced in-car experiences. The focus on HarmonyOS, alongside the vehicle’s high-voltage platform and long-range capabilities, suggests Voyah is aiming for a competitive edge in the rapidly expanding Chinese EV market.
