Geely Galaxy Expands with New V Series MPV Lineup

Geely Galaxy has unveiled its new high-end MPV series, the “V Series,” with the V900 model set to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. This launch signals Geely’s aggressive move into the premium new energy MPV segment, expanding a product portfolio that already includes the M, E, L, and A series, alongside models like the “Starship” and “Starlight.”

Expanding into Premium MPVs

The V Series introduction isn’t just another model launch; it represents a strategic expansion for Geely Galaxy. The company is directly targeting the growing demand for high-end, technologically advanced MPVs, particularly in the new energy vehicle (NEV) space. This is a key market segment where luxury and practicality converge, appealing to families and business travelers alike.

V900: EREV Counterpart to the LEVC L380

The V900 is essentially the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version of the all-electric LEVC L380 MPV. While the L380 is branded under LEVC, the V Series will fall under the Geely Galaxy umbrella, creating a dual-brand approach. This strategy allows Geely to cater to different consumer preferences—those seeking a fully electric option versus those who prefer the flexibility of an EREV powertrain.

Powertrain and Range

The Geely Galaxy V900 will be powered by a 1.5T range-extender powertrain, delivering a maximum output of 120 kW (161 hp). Two battery options will be available: a 50 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery and a 43.3 kWh CALB ternary lithium battery. These configurations offer pure electric ranges of up to 202 km and 172 km, respectively, with fuel consumption rated at 7-7.2 litres per 100 km when the battery is depleted.

Design and Dimensions

The V900 largely mirrors the design language of the electric L380, featuring sliding rear doors, a flat roofline, and blackened pillars. Notably, the V900 will also sport LEVC badges, a marketing decision that may cause some consumer confusion. Other exterior highlights include a LiDAR sensor, a prominent grille, and running lights under the bonnet.

The MPV measures 5360 mm in length, 1998 mm in width, and 1940 mm in height, making it slightly longer than the Li Mega minivan. It will ride on either 18-inch or 20-inch wheels and can be optionally equipped with power side steps.

Interior Flexibility and Weight

Inside, the V900 offers flexible seating arrangements, including a standard 2+2+2 six-seat layout and an optional 2+2+2+2 eight-seat configuration. The six-seat model provides a trunk depth of 919 mm, while the eight-seat variant offers 347 mm, with the fourth-row seats folding flat into a floor recess.

The V900’s curb weight ranges from 2,910 kg to 3,030 kg, with a gross weight between 3,390 kg and 3,660 kg. Its top speed is 190 km/h.

Market Outlook

The Geely Galaxy V900 is expected to launch in the Chinese market this year. Given that the electric L380 is slated for a UK launch in 2026, it is highly probable that Geely will introduce the V900 to UK buyers with both BEV and EREV powertrain options.

The V900 launch underscores Geely’s ambition to establish a strong presence in the premium MPV segment, leveraging both electric and extended-range electric technologies. This move is expected to intensify competition in the market, offering consumers a wider range of choices in this growing category
