Geely will launch the updated 2026 Galaxy Starship 7 (known internationally as the Geely Starry EM-i) in China on November 19. The vehicle, a compact plug-in hybrid SUV, receives significant improvements to its all-electric range and driver-assistance systems, while maintaining its core design and performance. Pricing will remain competitive, starting at approximately $13,400 USD, up to $17,900 USD.
Extended Electric Range
The most notable upgrade is a substantial increase in the vehicle’s pure-electric driving range. The base model now offers 130 km of CLTC-rated electric range, a considerable jump from the 55 km offered in the 2025 model. Higher trim levels push this further, with one variant delivering 135 km and the top-spec version achieving a maximum of 200 km. This positions the Starship 7 as a more viable daily-driver for those prioritizing electric operation.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2026 model retains the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine from its predecessor, producing 82 kW. However, the electric motor has been upgraded from 160 kW to 175 kW, forming a new plug-in hybrid system. Published performance figures remain consistent, with a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a combined range of 1,420 km. Fuel consumption is rated at 3.75 L/100 km under CLTC when the battery is depleted.
Enhanced Driver Assistance
Geely has upgraded the Starship 7’s driver-assistance suite with new radar modules and camera hardware. These enable the “H3” assisted-driving solution, which provides high-speed pilot assist and automated parking capabilities. A small blue indicator light on the exterior mirrors now signals when these functions are active, enhancing visibility for other drivers.
Interior Upgrades
Inside, the 2026 Starship 7 features a larger 15.4-inch central touchscreen, replacing the previous 14.6-inch display. The Flyme Auto infotainment system, which integrates vehicle, mobile, and cloud functions, remains unchanged. Other features carried over include a 16-speaker FlymeSound audio system, a Dragon Eagle One cockpit chip, heated/ventilated/massage front seats, a heated steering wheel, a HUD, SPA seats, parking guard functionality, and side curtain airbags.
Design and Dimensions
The vehicle’s dimensions remain unchanged from the 2025 model: 4,740 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, 1,685 mm in height, with a 2,755 mm wheelbase. Six exterior colours are available, inspired by Chinese ceramic glaze finishes: Spring Dawn Green, Autumn Moon Silver, First Snow White, Misty Grey, Ink Shadow Black, and Sky Blue.
EM-i Hybrid System
The Starship 7 continues to utilise the EM-i hybrid system, featuring an 11-in-1 electric drive unit and a thermal efficiency of 46.5%. This system aims to balance performance and fuel efficiency, offering a practical solution for consumers in China’s evolving automotive market.
The 2026 Geely Galaxy Starship 7 represents a notable upgrade over its predecessor, particularly in terms of electric range and driver assistance. These improvements position the vehicle as a competitive offering in the plug-in hybrid SUV segment, catering to a growing demand for electrified vehicles in China
