Mercedes-Benz is preparing a mid-life refresh for its globally popular GLC SUV and Coupé models, with updates slated for release within the next year. The facelift aims to keep the GLC competitive in a rapidly evolving market, and early test car sightings reveal key changes in design and technology.

Subtle Exterior Refinements

While the overall silhouette will remain familiar, the GLC will receive several visual tweaks. The most noticeable change is a narrowed “Panamerica” grille, bringing it into alignment with the recently launched all-electric GLC variant. Both SUV and Coupé versions will feature Mercedes’ new three-pointed star headlight signatures, along with a reshaped front bumper and updated alloy wheel designs.

The rear of the vehicle appears unchanged in these early test models, suggesting that the focus of the refresh is primarily on the front fascia. This approach is common for mid-cycle updates, as automakers often prioritize cost-effectiveness while still keeping the model looking fresh.

Interior Tech Upgrades

Inside, the cabin isn’t expected to undergo major structural changes. The current 11.9-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver’s display will likely remain, but the MBUX infotainment system is poised for an upgrade. However, a significant change is coming to the high-performance AMG GLC 63. Mercedes will likely ditch the underperforming plug-in hybrid four-cylinder engine in favor of a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six. This shift follows the same move made with the C 63, acknowledging that the previous four-cylinder setup didn’t resonate with AMG enthusiasts accustomed to V8 power. The new straight-six, already proven in the E 53, delivers a robust 603bhp.

Market Timing and Pricing

Mercedes-Benz is expected to officially unveil the facelifted GLC in the coming months, with a market launch in the UK shortly after. Pricing will likely see a slight increase from the current starting point of just under £55,000, but it should still remain competitive with the all-electric GLC, which starts at over £61,000.
