Xpeng Unveils the Interior of its Flagship GX SUV Ahead of April 15 Launch

Xpeng has officially pulled back the curtain on the interior of its highly anticipated flagship SUV, the GX. Following its initial unveiling in February, the company has released detailed images showcasing a premium, tech-heavy cabin designed to compete in the high-end family and luxury SUV segments.

A Sophisticated Six-Seat Configuration

The GX features a 2+2+2 independent seating layout, prioritizing passenger comfort and spatial flexibility. The interior is designed around a high-tech cockpit and a luxury passenger experience:

  • The Cockpit: The dashboard is dominated by a large central screen with ultra-narrow bezels, complemented by a digital instrument cluster and an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD). Notably, Xpeng has included dedicated physical buttons near the steering wheels, likely dedicated to managing assisted driving functions —a move that prioritizes driver focus by reducing menu-diving during transit.
  • Second-Row Luxury: The middle row is equipped with “zero-gravity” seats featuring electric leg rests and extra-long sliding rails for maximum adjustability. For entertainment, an overhead screen is positioned specifically for these passengers.
  • Third-Row Utility: The rear seats include independent headrests and are designed to fold flat, allowing for versatile cargo configurations.
  • Smart Glass Technology: In a standout feature, the GX utilizes what Xpeng calls the world’s first AI-dimming privacy glass. This technology can transition the tint of the rear windows in just 0.16 seconds, providing instant privacy for the second and third rows.

Engineering and Performance Specifications

The GX is a full-size SUV with substantial dimensions: 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and a 3,115 mm wheelbase. To manage its large footprint, Xpeng has integrated steer-by-wire technology and rear-wheel steering, which helps improve maneuverability in tight spaces despite the vehicle’s size.

Xpeng is offering two powertrain configurations to cater to different consumer needs:

  1. Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV): Aimed at users prioritizing long-distance travel without charging anxiety.
  2. Pure Electric (BEV): Built on an advanced 800V platform with a 5C supercharging battery. This version promises high-performance metrics, including a 0–100 km/h acceleration in the 4-second range and a maximum range of up to 750 km.

Market Context and Competitive Landscape

The GX is positioned to take on some of the most formidable players in the Chinese premium EV market. With an expected price point under 400,000 yuan (approximately $58,000 USD), it will go head-to-head with established flagship models like the Aito M9 and the Li Auto L9.

This pricing strategy suggests Xpeng is aiming to capture the “premium-mass” market—offering high-end tech and luxury features at a price point that challenges established leaders in the large SUV segment.

The official launch of the Xpeng GX is scheduled for April 15.

Conclusion
The Xpeng GX represents a significant push into the luxury full-size SUV market, combining advanced 800V electric architecture with high-end passenger amenities. Its success will likely depend on how well its AI-driven features and competitive pricing stack up against dominant rivals like Li Auto.
