BYD’s premium brand, Denza, is set to unveil the updated Z9 GT on March 5th, 2026. This launch is more than just a model refresh; it represents a significant step forward in electric vehicle (EV) technology, particularly in range, power, and charging speed. The Z9 GT isn’t just another car – it’s a testbed for BYD’s next-generation systems, poised to reshape the high-performance luxury EV market.

Key Specs and Technological Advancements

The Denza Z9 GT boasts an impressive maximum range of 1,036 km (643 miles) on a single charge, making it the longest-range mass-produced EV currently available in China. This achievement is largely due to BYD’s updated Blade Battery 2.0, which will be officially introduced alongside the vehicle.

Beyond range, the Z9 GT packs serious power. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version now delivers a combined output of 850 kW (1,140 hp), up from the previous 710 kW. This makes it a direct competitor to high-end EVs like the Porsche Taycan and Zeekr 001.

The vehicle also features a host of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including the DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye” 5.0, supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR system. A new blue indicator light signals when autonomous mode is engaged.

Fast Charging and Infrastructure

Perhaps the most groundbreaking aspect of the Z9 GT is its compatibility with BYD’s new 1,500 kW “flash-charging” network. Test vehicles have already been sighted at experimental terminals, utilizing liquid-cooled connectors to handle the extreme thermal load. This infrastructure is designed to drastically reduce charging times, potentially beating even the fastest 800V systems currently on the market. The Z9 GT uses a 122.5 kWh battery pack to support this rapid charging capability.

Interior and Exterior Updates

The Z9 GT maintains its signature triple-screen layout – a 17.3-inch central display flanked by dual 13.2-inch screens for the driver and passenger. Inside, the gear shifter has been moved to a column-mounted position, and the steering wheel has been redesigned for improved ergonomics.

Exterior updates include new 21-inch wheel options and a striking “Fjord Green” paint finish. The vehicle’s dimensions remain at 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,500 mm high, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase.

Market Performance and Future Outlook

While January 2026 sales of the Z9 GT plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version were modest at 59 units, the model previously exceeded 10,000 deliveries within its first four months after launch in late 2024. The EV variant comes in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and AWD configurations, with the RWD model offering a 370 kW motor. The PHEV version utilizes a smaller 63.82 kWh battery pack, providing a 400 km (249 miles) CLTC electric range.

The Denza Z9 GT isn’t just about raw performance; it’s about demonstrating what’s possible when cutting-edge battery tech, extreme charging speeds, and advanced autonomous systems converge in a single vehicle.

This launch positions BYD as a leader in the rapidly evolving EV landscape, setting a new standard for luxury, range, and charging infrastructure.
